I've operated the radio for several hours on both ac and dc to see if this shadow would expand but it did not does obstruct display. The siren is very loud, it will wake dead. The battery contacts are clean, never had leaking batteries.

I have included the original instruction manual which is in good shape and includes a very helpful quick-start up instructions on page 10. I tested it for this listing and found its fully functional. The digital display is very good except for 'spidery' shadow on left side but that does not obstruct view of at all.
